DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – A dangerous man wanted on dozens of charges has been arrested by Des Moines police. KCCI-TV reports Damir Nuhanovic, 36, was captured early Friday morning. Officers found Nuhanovic passed out with a weapon in his possession in a parked vehicle. Clive police had listed Nuhanovic as wanted and dangerous in October. He is being held in the Polk County Jail on 41 charges, including carrying weapons, theft, identity theft, burglary, unauthorized use of credit cards and possession of controlled substances.

OELWEIN, IA (IRN) – Jessica Bratten, the former director of The Little Husky Childcare Center in Oelwein, is accused of stealing around $10,000 for “personal use” over the course of a year from the daycare she oversaw. KCRG-TV reports she will soon face charges for allegedly embezzling the funds.

DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – The Iowa Supreme Court has a new temporary leader following the death last week of former Chief Justice Mark Cady. On Thursday, Justice David Wiggins was appointed Acting Chief Justice. Cady died last Friday after suffering a heart attack while walking his dog.

AMES, IA (IRN) – Iowa State University officials are investigating more racist incidents on campus. KCCI-TV reports police got a report of a swastika etched on a residence hall door this week. Last month, a racial slur was found in another residence hall. Chief Michael Newton, with ISU police says, “when somebody confronts them, they take off running…they’re little cowards.”

BETTENDORF, IA (IRN) – Four men were rescued out of a boat that capsized on the Mississippi River near Bettendorf yesterday. WQAD-TV reports workers with Lunda Construction, a company working on the Interstate 74 Bridge project, helped rescue the men out of the boat using their tugboat. Strong winds and high waves caused the boat to capsize. No one was injured.
