URBANDALE, IA (IRN) – KCCI-TV reports it took crews several hours to remove a car from the Walgreens in Urbandale after a driver slammed into the building. No one was injured.

DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – Officials at a Des Moines zoo say a 3-month-old seal pup born there recently died. Blank Park Zoo officials say the pup, born August 20 and named “Lucy,” died on November 24. A news release issued by the zoo said a necropsy showed Lucy died after suffering from “failure to thrive.” That means she wasn’t processing enough calories to survive.

ANKENY, IA (IRN) – An Ankeny man is charged with illegal hunting for allegedly shooting and killing trumpeter swans. According to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, 28-year-old Loai Abdulal shot and killed six trumpeter swans at Paul Errington Marsh on Friday. When confronted by a DNR officer, the suspect stated that he thought the swans were geese. Abdulal is charged with six counts of illegal taking of a non-protected game. If convicted, he will face a $1,500 civil penalty for each trumpeter swan.

SIOUX CITY, IA (IRN) – Joe Dolincheck threw three touchdown passes and Morningside College’s defense forced a decisive fumble in the closing seconds to lead the Mustangs past Grand View University 21-16 Saturday in the NAIA FCS semifinals. Morningside (13-0) advances to the title game for the second year in a row, and extends its winning streak to 28 games. The Mustangs will face Marian on December 21 in Grambling, Louisiana.
