DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – Two men attacked a Papa John’s delivery driver in Des Moines Saturday night, shooting him with a shotgun as he fled, according to the Des Moines Register. Officers were dispatched after witnesses reported a loud boom and a man yelling for help. The victim says he was walking to a door of a home to deliver pizza when he was confronted by two men wearing masks. When the victim tried to run they shot him with a shotgun loaded with birdshot.

CRESTON, IA (IRN) – A Creston woman faces arson charges after she admitted to intentionally setting a house on fire that she wanted condemned. 42-year-old Sheila Shoults was caught on security camera setting the fire. Police said this was the fourth time the house had caught fire. Shoults said she was “tired of strange people going in and out of the house,” and was concerned about children who went into the home as well.

DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – A security guard is facing charges after he shot at a car at Water Works Park in a bizarre incident in May. KCCI-TV reports police charged Eugene McGrath with reckless discharge of a firearm causing property damage. A man was leaving the park around 1 a.m. when McGrath pulled in behind him and tried to make him stop. When the man didn’t, McGrath pulled in front of him and fired three shots into the radiator, handcuffed the man, and called police. Police say the man was under no obligation to stop.

CHARLES CITY, IA (IRN) – One man is dead after multiple gunshots were fired at an apartment complex in Charles City. KIMT-TV reports a warrant has been issued for 1st degree murder for 36-year-old Antoine Williams, who is considered armed and dangerous. The victim was 20 years old.

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (IRN) – Cedar Rapids Police responding to a shots fired call at a Walmart parking lot Sunday said they found two men in a car with gunshot wounds. KCRG-TV reports the car crashed into a guardrail in the parking lot after the shooting. Both were hospitalized, and one has life-threatening injuries.

IOWA (IRN) – Breweries across Iowa are now able to sell wine. The law came about following legislation in 2009 that allowed wineries to sell beer. Brewery owners say this change is great for Iowa and will allow them to work with local wineries. The law comes as state lawmakers across the country look into regulations set up during Prohibition between 1920 and 1933.
