DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – One man is dead after a car accident Saturday morning on Highway 5 near Fleur Drive in Des Moines. Officials say the SUV was being driven at an excessive speed when it left the road and hit a concrete bridge support. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

BANCROFT, IA (IRN) – Authorities are investigating after three people were found dead at a residence in Bancroft in Kossuth County Friday. WHO-TV reports authorities didn’t say how the three died but that there is not an on-going threat to the public.

DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – LME Inc. in Des Moines closed suddenly, leaving 40 truck drivers without jobs. KCCI-TV reports a former employee says, “we woke up to check our direct deposits, and there was no direct deposit.” Management called several staff members into a meeting at the end of the workday Thursday to tell them LME as a company no longer existed. The company website claimed to employ more than 600 people in multiple states, with its headquarters in Minnesota. No one is answering the phone numbers on its website.

DECORAH, IA (IRN) – One Iowa man says his rights were violated when he was forced to take down his flag in support of President Trump at a county fair. KWWL-TV reports the man says a Winneshiek County Fair official told him to remove the President Trump flag from the back of his wheelchair. He says he feels his rights have been violated. The fair board says as a non-profit, they can’t support or endorse political candidates or parties. The chair of the county Republican party says the flag is a personal endorsement, and clearly not an endorsement by the fair board.

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (IRN) – The issue of immigration, mass deportations, and detaining children at the border brought a huge crowd out in demonstration in Cedar Rapids Friday. KGAN-TV reports young and old alike turned out in what appeared to be the hundreds, near a building where federal agents operate. Organizers say they want everyone to know that immigrants aren’t America’s enemies.
