DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – A death investigation is underway after human remains were discovered at a homeless camp in Des Moines. KCCI-TV reports an investigation is underway.

ST. LOUIS, MO (IRN) – Former Iowa running back Derrick Mitchell has died after being involved in a car accident last Friday. Mitchell was just 24 years old. Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, Mitchell was a member of the Iowa football team from 2013-16.

FOREST CITY, IA (IRN) – Six former employees are suing Winnebago Industries for age and disability discrimination and retaliation. KIMT-TV reports the six were among 35 Winnebago employees laid off in July 2018. They claim that almost all of those fired employees were older, and they were replaced by younger workers.

DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – The Iowa State Patrol is warning drivers to watch out for deer on the roadways after responding to 235 crashes involving animals in October and November 2018. October and November are the peak months for Iowans to see deer. Officials say never veer for the deer. When drivers do, they often roll their vehicles.

NEBRASKA/IOWA (IRN) – Forecasters say a wintry storm system could drop up to 10 inches of snow on northwest Nebraska later this week. The same system also could drop considerable snow on northwestern and northern Iowa on Friday or early Saturday.
