DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – Iowa Department of Public Health data continues to show an increase in positive coronavirus cases in the state. On Saturday, IDPH reported 567 new positive cases and 1 additional death. That brings the statewide total to 30,922 cases and 721 deaths.

MANCHESTER, IA (IRN) – A 17-year-old died after drowning at Lake Delhi Friday.
The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office said they received a call about a possible drowning around 7 p.m. Friday. The caller reported that someone had jumped into the lake and did nor resurface. The Delhi Fire Department divers located the victim, 17-year-old Teige Hunt, in about forty feet of water.

LINN COUNTY, IA (IRN) – A motorcycle rider was seriously hurt Saturday afternoon after going into the ditch in Linn County. The Linn County Sheriff’s Office says 61-year-old Jay Matthews of Walker was riding his bike when he left the road. He was able to crawl to the shoulder to flag down help. Matthews was taken to Mercy Medical Center with serious injuries.

DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – Hundreds of protesters gathered at the Iowa Capitol on Saturday to deliver a letter that called for lawmakers to get rid of historical monuments on the state grounds. What statues they want removed will be named later.
