CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (IRN) – Police are investigating after a teen admitted to killing his parents at a home in Cedar Rapids on Thursday morning. When police arrived on scene, they found a 17-year-old male sitting outside the home, covered in blood. The teen told police he had killed his parents. Officers found two people dead in the home.

COUNCIL BLUFFS, IA (IRN) – A 33-year-old man faces multiple charges after Council Bluffs police said he rear-ended a car and stole it while a woman was inside. Zachary White allegedly hit the car on Wednesday. When the victim got out to check on the damage, White jumped into the victim’s car and drove away. The victim’s wife was in the passenger seat at the time. She was seriously injured when she fell out of the vehicle. White then drove toward Omaha, causing several more crashes along the way. Authorities were able to stop him, and he was taken to an Omaha hospital where he faces multiple charges.

DAVENPORT, IA (IRN) – A police officer in eastern Iowa shot a wanted suspect Wednesday. Davenport police were called to the scene of a wanted subject with a weapon. Police pursued the individual on foot and attempted to take the subject into custody. The subject did not comply, and an officer discharged a firearm. Police were able to take the suspect into custody. The suspect was taken to the hospital, and the officer is on leave.

MIDWEST, U.S.A. (IRN) – United Auto Workers chapters across the Midwest are now on strike after contract negotiations failed. That includes John Deere plants in Waterloo, Ottumwa, Ankeny, and nearby Moline, Illinois. It’s the first strike in 35 years at John Deere.

​​EPWORTH, IA (IRN) – Western Dubuque School District officials in Epworth announced yesterday that all staff and students would be required to wear masks because eight percent of the high school student body is out due to COVID-19. The district says the mask policy will stay in place until COVID-19 infections are lower than three percent of the total school population.

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (IRN) – The Iowa Hawkeye Athletic Department has issued a warning about fraudulent tickets for Hawkeye football games. Fans packed Kinnick during the Hawks win against Penn State last week. Some tickets were being sold for as much as $2,000 online. University officials say 50 fraudulent tickets were presented to them last week.
